Overview
Manpower are currently seeking an interim Packaging Technician to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. This is a full-time temporary role based at the client’s scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral. The contract is 6 months, 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Compensation is up to £33,750 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience. The role offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to business requirements.
About the Role
Unilever is seeking a Packaging Technician to provide support to the Europe Beauty and Wellbeing team. You will represent R&D Packaging on business-critical supply chain projects, support 5S savings initiatives, and provide quality and lab testing support for ad hoc R&D requests. This is an opportunity to deliver innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective packaging solutions for leading brands.
Responsibilities
* Lead the development and creation of new secondary packaging and pallet specifications for different sourcing unit projects, supporting new line commissioning.
* Support saving projects.
* Conduct final sample testing, supporting new folding box machine commissioning at the sourcing unit.
* Lead and carry out packaging testing, understand and interpret results, make recommendations and build robust specifications.
* Work with cross-functional teams and the sourcing unit to deliver supply chain and 5S projects.
* Manage relationships with external suppliers, arrange and oversee trials.
* Be the lead packaging representative on all assigned projects.
* Deliver required work On Time In Full (OTIF) within tight project networks.
* Identify and resolve issues during packaging trials, collaborating with Global partners and suppliers.
* Lead packaging testing activities, interpret results, make recommendations, and build robust specifications.
Requirements
* Relevant experience in packaging or manufacturing (QA/engineering focus on packaging).
* Functional understanding of plastic moulded components and their qualification.
* Working knowledge of AWS, Cape, and LIMS desirable.
* Creative, logical, and analytical mindset for innovative packaging solutions.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate complex packaging and engineering principles across functions and levels.
* Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
