Responsibilities
To provide operational managerial leadership with the support of the General Manager/Head of Service, Clinical Director and Leads, and Nursing/AHP leads within Critical Care/Theatres in order to:
Be accountable for the day‑to‑day activities within Critical Care/Theatres in accordance with Trust policies and within allocated resources.
Manage the day‑to‑day activities of Theatres across acute and community sites across both Northern and Eastern sites, as well as ITU, Anaesthetics and Recovery, Preparation for Surgery and Pain Management – in accordance with Trust policies and within allocated resources.
Continuously develop the most efficient and cost‑effective structure for the future delivery of Services within Critical Care with the involvement of clinicians, professionals and other key stakeholders.
Meet performance targets for quality, volume and cost.
To take a proactive role in the continuous service improvement of Critical Care.
To be the delegated budget holder for pay and non‑pay resources for Critical Care.
About the Role
The Surgical Services Division at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is home to a wide range of surgical specialities and we are currently looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated manager for Critical Care and Theatres. This is a key post within Surgical Services and the successful candidate will work very closely with the Clinical Director, Clinical Leads, Senior Nurses and senior divisional team to ensure the continued improvement of the already excellent clinical care provided across a wide ranged portfolio, including theatres, anaesthetics, ITU, pain management and prep for surgery across both Northern and Eastern sites.
You will be self‑motivated and committed to developing services with the ability to lead, motivate and support a multi‑disciplinary team of staff demonstrating honesty, integrity and fairness at all times. You will possess dedication and tenacity to ensure the services within Critical Care provide safe, high quality & effective care, ensuring delivery of local and national requirements and will have proven experience of working in a fast‑paced environment. Your excellent communication skills will be vital in order to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You will be a problem solver, able to analyse complex data with the ability to influence and negotiate to achieve the best outcomes for patients and the team. You will report to the General Manager and it is essential that you will bring previous and relevant experience of managing a hospital service.

Working Pattern
