Powertrain Build Manager Powertrain Build Manager About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Powertrain Build Manager to lead our Powertrain Build and Support teams. This role is critical in ensuring the delivery of efficient, cost-effective, and customer-focused projects, products, and services, spanning prototype and production builds, R&D, and end-of-line testing. Key Responsibilities: Lead all powertrain prototype and production builds, supporting testing and R&D activities to achieve project objectives. Produce, check, and approve build and support documentation, ensuring records are accurate and up to date. Collaborate with commercial, projects, engineering, and operations teams to ensure builds are timely, cost-effective, and efficiently resourced. Capture, track, and resolve engineering concerns through the RML 5C Concerns Process. Ensure compliance with RML HV Safety Management System and health and safety policies. Maintain team competency by completing Experience Logbooks and supporting ongoing certification and training. Prepare and manage departmental budgets aligned with strategic growth objectives. Lead CPD activities to enhance your own expertise and mentor team members. Research and implement new technologies/processes to enhance engineering capabilities. Coordinate offsite activities and events with internal departments and external suppliers. Support project quoting processes, including cost planning and proposal generation. Foster effective communication and teamwork across the department and wider organization. Job Requirements: Qualifications & Experience: Advanced formal training or equivalent in a relevant discipline (BTEC National Certificate/ONC, A Levels, Scottish Highers, City & Guilds Level 3, or NVQ-3). Proven experience leading automotive or motorsport system/component builds in an OEM, Tier 1 supplier, engineering consultancy, or motorsport team. Experienced in managing, scheduling, budgeting, and resourcing significant engineering tasks or projects. Experience with up to 800V systems as a Senior Authorised Person/Person in Charge (PiC), including live unplanned working situations. Knowledge and experience of ICE build and testing, and calibration software. Skills & Competencies: Expertise in working to detailed work procedures and safe systems of work. Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills on mechanical and electrical systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office and interpreting engineering documentation, drawings, and work instructions. Experienced in structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Ishikawa). Excellent communication skills in English and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
