Bladder & Bowel Administrator / Support Worker
The post holder will be responsible for providing efficient and high-quality clerical support to the Bladder and Bowel Team and play an integral part in maintaining the smooth running and operation of the bladder and bowel service. They will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with key members of the multidisciplinary team and work in partnership with colleagues, schools and other services to ensure a positive experience and good health outcomes for service users.
Responsibilities
* Support the Enuresis Nurse to pre‑screen referrals and provide initial advice and reassurance to young people and parents.
* Support the Enuresis Nurse in reviewing nappy fitting requests.
* Complete nappy size changes on the NHS Nappy Delivery Portal.
* Act as the bladder and bowel link worker for Swiss Cottage Special School and Camden mainstream schools with specialist units for children with additional needs.
* Undertake general support worker duties, including staffing the School Nurse Duty Desk telephone line and email account.
* Respond to enquiries from schools, parents, carers, and professionals in a professional and timely manner.
* Update and maintain accurate clinical records on System One.
* Maintain accurate electronic patient records, talk to people about sensitive issues in a supportive manner and challenge others assertively when necessary.
* Communicate with the multidisciplinary team, update others and use handover effectively.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: Numeracy and literacy skills required to keep accurate records, evidence of professional and personal development.
* Desirable: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, NNEB, NVQ (Child Care) or equivalent.
Previous Experience
* Essential: Experience as a Band 2 or 3 healthcare assistant, experience working with children in a professional capacity, previous administrative work.
* Desirable: Prior working within children’s health or social services, working with diverse communities.
Skills and Knowledge
* Essential: Good verbal and written communication, ability to maintain accurate, timely, concise patient records, ability to talk to people about sensitive issues, ability to communicate with multidisciplinary team, awareness of risk management, ability to work well with other team members and be reliable and enthusiastic.
* Desirable: Knowledge of the bladder and bowel service, empowering and working in partnership with service users, supervision and appraisal training.
