Trafalgar Talent is recruiting on behalf of a confidential global client in the fintech space. As they scale internationally, they are seeking a Head of Payments & Payments Compliance to lead their payments, fraud, and compliance functions. This is a pivotal leadership role with global impact, driving both strategy and execution in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities: Strategy & Leadership
* Lead global strategy for payments operations and payment compliance.
* Manage and mentor high-performing teams across payments, fraud, and compliance.
* Collaborate with leadership across Finance, Risk, Product, and Engineering.
* Drive process innovation, scalability, and regulatory readiness.
Compliance & Regulation
* Ensure compliance with card schemes, PCI DSS, government, and global financial regulations.
* Oversee dispute handling, compliance protocols, and internal audit frameworks.
* Monitor regulatory developments and align business practices accordingly.
* Design and implement fraud prevention and detection strategies.
* Oversee transaction monitoring, chargeback defence, and dispute trends.
* Provide regular fraud and risk performance reporting to senior stakeholders.
* Own relationships with payment processors, gateways, acquirers, and fraud solution providers.
* Oversee merchant onboarding, account optimisation, and geographic compliance.
* Collaborate on reconciliation, transaction forecasting, and reserve management.
* Monitor conversion rates, decline trends, and currency performance.
* Research and implement regionally appropriate alternative payment methods.
* Lead the roadmap for payment innovation and customer experience improvements.
About You
* 5+ years of senior experience in global payments, compliance, or fraud risk.
* Strong knowledge of payment networks, card schemes, and regulatory compliance.
* Proven leadership experience with scaling high-performing teams.
* Skilled in working with payment gateways, orchestration tools, and fraud platforms.
* Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration.
* Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and reporting skills.
