The School and Role
A dynamic and inclusive Alternative Provision School situated in Bournemouth is currently seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their team immediately. This school specialises in supporting primary and secondary aged pupils who face social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges, as well as managing challenging behaviors. About the Role
The successful SEMH Support Assistant will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential. Responsibilities include working 1-to-1 with individual pupils or within small class groups, supporting students from Year 1 to Year 11. Your key duties will involve:
4. Assisting pupils academically by providing tailored support to meet their specific learning needs
5. Helping students overcome barriers to learning, ensuring inclusive participation in lessons
6. Offering emotional and behavioural support to create a safe and supportive environment
7. Implementing individualised strategies to promote positive behavior and emotional well-being
8. Collaborating closely with teaching staff and external agencies to support student progress and well-being
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess a compassionate approach, patience, and a strong commitment to supporting young people's development. Previous experience working with SEMH pupils, challenging behaviors, or in similar educational settings is desirable but not essential. A positive attitude and a willingness to adapt to each student's unique needs are essential.
