Lane Rental Officer
As a Lane Rental Officer, you will be responsible for managing, monitoring and enforcing lane rental charges applied to utility companies and contractors who occupy traffic-sensitive streets during peak times. You will also review permit applications, monitor works on site, and work with stakeholders to minimise disruption across the network.
You will also play a key role in managing lane rental project bids, monitoring the delivery of approved schemes, and supporting the ongoing evaluation and governance of the scheme.
Key Responsibilities
·Apply daily lane rental charges to work promoters occupying designated traffic-sensitive streets during peak hours.
·Monitor roadworks on site to ensure works are completed efficiently and in accordance with approved schedules.
·Review permit applications to ensure compliance with lane rental rules, traffic-sensitive timings and safety requirements.
·Maintain accurate records of works start and end times to enable correct charging and identify any remedial action required.
·Promote collaborative working between utilities and contractors to reduce the duration of road space occupation.
·Support the management and monitoring of revenue generated by the lane rental scheme.
·Assist with the administration, monitoring and evaluation of lane rental bids and funded projects.
·Work closely with internal teams, utilities, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the scheme.
About You
To be considered for this role you will ideally have:
·Experience working within highways, street works, network coordination or traffic management
·Knowledge of street works legislation or permit schemes (NRSWA knowledge desirable)
·Strong organisational and communication skills
·Experience working with contractors, utility companies and stakeholders
·Ability to monitor works and maintain accurate records and reports
·A proactive approach to improving network efficiency and reducing disruption
