The Win with Data team owns the services that form our Data Ecosystem, creating and maintaining APIs, backed by Java and Python microservices to manage and unleash the value of data across the full data lifecycle. From capturing data in real time, ensuring its accuracy and usability, to enabling analysis for deep insights backed by cloud-based data stores and scalable machine learning, the Capital One Win with Data team is leading the way.
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join us on our mission, where you’ll use various languages (such as Java, Python, React/TypeScript) to build both front-end and back-end solutions, solving complex problems as we create our next-generation data ecosystem to help our customers.
What you’ll do
* Work as part of a self-organized Data engineering team to design and develop impactful software features for credit card consumers.
* Focus on significant components, features, or mid-size applications/services within the team.
* Align with the goals and vision shared by Product Management and Outcome Team Leadership.
* Drive engineering best practices (Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, etc.) and set standards across teams.
* Innovate within your team and contribute within your technical domain.
What we’re looking for
* Experience as a Technical Lead, working with stakeholders to deliver outcomes at pace, influencing wider engineering teams, and coaching junior engineers.
* Strong programming skills with modern OO languages/technologies such as Java, Python, React/TypeScript.
* Knowledge of creating architectural designs that meet business needs.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills across engineering teams.
* Experience delivering high-quality applications at scale.
* Advocate for quality, supporting the team with practices like Pair Programming, TDD, and BDD.
Additional desirable experience includes:
* Working with cloud/AWS and related opportunities.
* Experience in complex regulated environments.

This is a permanent position based in Nottingham.
Hybrid work model: in-office 3 days a week (Tues, Wed, Thurs) with flexible arrangements.
