Job Description
The Electrical Design Engineer will report to the Head of Delivery and collaborate closely with the wider delivery team, including project professionals and engineers. This role involves active engagement with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and staying informed on the latest advancements in electrical engineering.
Location: London - Hybrid - Site visits will be required
Salary: £60,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership by leveraging qualifications and experience to assess and define electrical design requirements for infrastructure rollouts across all electricity distribution networks. Apply installation design and project management expertise to support delivery.
* Approve and sign off electrical design elements including both on-street (DNO or highway asset-connected) and private installations requiring new DNO connections or integrations with existing building supplies.
* Engage and manage assigned suppliers, ensuring they receive clear design instructions and have a thorough understanding of project expectations.
* Support Project Managers by supplying accurate and timely design data to all stakeholders. Identify, manage, and mitigate risks and issues associated with the electrical design and installation of charge points.
* Develop and maintain standard electrical design documentation.
* Collaborate with the product, delivery, and supplier teams to ensure that electrical designs are created and implemented to the required standards.
* Work in partnership with customers, DNOs/ICPs, and suppliers to deliver designs that meet local and requirements across the UK.
Person Specification
* Proven leadership in commercial and/or industrial electrical design and installation, with strong IT skills for producing clear documentation and policies.
* Comprehensive understanding of DNO/ICP structures, documentation, and procedures (including new connection requirements, grid capacity, and compliance).
* C&G 2365 or equivalent (e.g., C&G 2330), ideally with a Level 3 NVQ.
* Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) exam.
* C&G 2382-22 (18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regulations).
* C&G 2391-52 (Inspection and Testing).
* Demonstrated experience in creating and maintaining electrical design documentation.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage a wide range of delivery stakeholders effectively.
