A client within the Public Sector based in Manchester is currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer (Level 2) to join their Capital Programmes and Procurement Service – Growth & Development Directorate as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a capital projects or property services environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide professional electrical engineering expertise within the Capital Programmes Division, supporting the design and delivery of both major and minor construction projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant technical, procedural, and legislative standards.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Leading on the design, development, and delivery of electrical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 (18th Edition) and relevant legislation.
• Providing technical consultancy advice and peer review of electrical designs to ensure compliance and quality.
• Undertaking feasibility studies, electrical condition surveys, and developing maintenance programmes for property assets.
• Supporting the delivery of energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives.
• Managing stakeholder relationships, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects are delivered effectively and on time.
• Preparing reports, specifications, and technical documentation to support project delivery.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• An Electrical Engineering Degree, or HND/HNC (ideally working towards a degree or equivalent qualification), or a recognised engineering apprenticeship with relevant post-qualification experience.
• Demonstrable experience in electrical engineering design (to BS 7671 - 18th Edition) and project delivery within a construction or local authority setting.
• A sound understanding of health & safety legislation and electrical safety compliance.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Registration or working towards registration with the Engineering Council (CEng/IEng/EngTech).
• Experience of delivering energy efficiency, carbon reduction, or sustainability initiatives.
• Strong communication, analytical, and project management skills.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £30 per hour PAYE).
