Band 2 Healthcare Assistant

University Hospitals Plymouth (on-site)


Hourly rate

£12.51 per hour, plus enhancements


Responsibilities

* Deliver compassionate, person-centred care to patients approaching the end of life within a multidisciplinary team.
* Support patients with personal care needs, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility and comfort, while maintaining dignity and respect.
* Assist with holistic assessments and care planning, monitor skin integrity, help with rest and sleep, and ensure a clean and safe environment.
* Communicate sensitively with patients and their loved ones, report concerns promptly, and support patients’ choices and wishes.
* Work closely with registered nurses and other healthcare professionals; help manage symptoms, observe and report changes in condition, and contribute to advance care planning.
* Provide high standards of care and emotional support during challenging moments to make a meaningful difference to patients and their families.


Qualifications

* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent Level 2 Qualification
* Recent experience in caring for and supporting patients at the end of life
* Understanding of prioritising a patient’s care, comfort and privacy
* Clear, appropriate and sensitive communicator who can make informed decisions and have difficult conversations
* Passion, knowledge and understanding of how to deliver person-centred care
* Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
* Experience working within a Multidisciplinary team, assisting in curating individual assessments and advanced care plans
