Overview
As a SLT Assistant, your work will be key in supporting patients to maximise their potential in communication. You will directly work with patients, develop adapted resources, and model good communication across the wards. You will need to demonstrate good planning and organisational skills, flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to work under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist. You will need to be confident in communicating with patients, SLTs, and other health and social care professionals. You will be able to manage your own time under direction from a SLT and be competent in record keeping and supporting report writing.
Responsibilities
* Directly work with patients to support communication goals.
* Develop adapted resources and model effective communication across wards.
* Plan and organise work with flexibility and teamwork, under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Communicate confidently with patients, SLTs, and other health and social care professionals.
* Manage your own time under direction from a SLT and maintain accurate records and support report writing.
Qualifications and attributes
* Enthusiastic and motivated, with an interest in working with people with communication disabilities and mental health diagnoses.
* Experience in intellectual disabilities and/or mental health, and skills in supporting people with additional communication needs.
