Job Title: Teaching Assistant – Special Resource Base Location: Cardiff Contract Type: Full-time Start Date: June 2026 About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a Primary School supporting the Special Resource Base in Cardiff, supporting children with additional learning needs (ALN). This is a rewarding opportunity to work as part of a skilled and supportive team, helping pupils access learning, build independence, and thrive both academically and socially. The Special Resource Base provides tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, which may include autism, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teaching staff, the ALNCo to procvide support aligned with each pupil’s needs. Key Responsibilities Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups within the Resource Base and mainstream classroom Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing using consistent strategies Support the class teacher in preparing resources and adapting learning materials Assist with personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment About You Experience working with children with additional learning needs is highly desirable Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a positive approach to supporting behaviour Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to adapt and respond to individual pupil needs Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable What We Offer A dedicated consultant to support you throught the onboarding process £50 referal if you refer a teacher or teaching assistant to us Access to CPD Training How to Apply To apply, please upload your updated CV or contact the Cardiff Primary team on!
