Design EngineerClient: BAE SystemsLocation: Scotstoun, GlasgowDuration: 12 month contract basis.Hourly rate: £28.44 PAYE or £38.21 UmbrellaOverviewThe role holder should have knowledge and experience of naval and/or commercial ship outfit systems and the expertise to support system and spatial integration issues with other disciplines. Outfit includes the design or operation of:-
* Deck coverings, Coatings, Insulation & Linings
* Doors, Hatches and Scuttles
* Accommodation and Wet Spaces
* Medical
* Ship’s Access & Escape (i.e. doors, hatches, ladders. etc.)
* Evacuation & Lifesaving
* Removal routes
* Commissariat, Galley & Laundry
* Offices, Stores (incl. refrigerated) & Workshops
* Human Factors awareness
* Damage Control & Portable Firefighting
* Equipment Procurement Packs
* Rule sets: Def. Standards, Lloyds, Naval RulesCompartment and Product Safety
Skills
* Strong understanding of Detail Design Requirements
* Experience in an Outfit Ship Design environment
* Experience in engineering or a defence related industry.
* Experience working in 3D model (view only)
* Able to perform analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements.
* Displays flexibility through response to radical changes
* Experience with CAD software like AutoCAD or FORAN is desirable
