Therapies Assistant Practitioner

We are looking for a Band 4 Therapies Assistant Practitioner to join the Surgical Emergency (SEU) Team. The SEU is a fast‑paced and varied environment caring for patients with complex surgical needs. The service spans emergency triage, three acute inpatient wards and ambulatory care at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The post‑holder will work across professional boundaries as part of both the SEU and Therapies teams, working independently under the supervision of registered practitioners to support the delivery of high‑quality care by assisting Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Registered Nurses with patient assessment, treatment and rehabilitation, enabling timely and safe discharge planning.
Responsibilities
* Support registered Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Registered Nurses with patient assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.
* Assist in delivering high quality care and support timely and safe discharge planning.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and maintain therapy services for patients.
* Implement delegated treatment programmes, promote patient independence and support discharge planning in partnership with the SEU discharge coordinator and discharge liaison nurse.
* Complete and maintain accurate patient records while safeguarding confidentiality.
* Maintain the dignity and privacy of all patients and respect their right to confidentiality at all times.
* Complete and maintain role‑specific clinical competencies and review progress with the Therapy Lead through the appraisal process.
* Understand level of responsibility, scope of practice and accountability relative to registered therapists and adhere to organisational policies and professional standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care (achieved grade).
* Holder of a Disclosure and Barring Service Check (subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; required).
Salary: £28,392 to £31,157 a year (Pro Rata).
