Overview
Swansea University Health Board is seeking to appoint a 10‑session Medical Oncologist with a sub‑specialist interest in lung cancer and sarcoma. The role requires a commitment to high‑quality patient care, research, innovative service models, performance target delivery and excellence in education and training. The post-holder will deliver Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT) for the above tumour sites and expand the trials portfolio for patients of the South West Wales Cancer Centre.
Responsibilities
* Deliver SACT to lung cancer patients at Singleton Hospital.
* Deliver SACT to sarcoma patients across South West Wales.
* Provide mutual cross‑cover for the other lung oncologists.
* Participate in the Swansea lung cancer MDT on Monday mornings.
* Participate in the South Wales sarcoma MDT on Wednesday mornings.
* Work with a Certified Nurse Specialist (CNS), non‑medical prescriber pharmacist and occasional specialist paramedic responders to support clinics.
* Expand the clinical trials portfolio for lung and sarcoma cancers.
* Work flexible hours, with opportunities for remote chemotherapy prescribing where appropriate.
Qualifications
* Fully registered medical oncologist with a demonstrated sub‑specialist interest in lung cancer and sarcoma.
* Commitment to high‑quality patient care, research, innovative service models and teaching.
* Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and delivering SACT.
* Willingness to commit to a 10‑session post and to work flexible hours.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clinical and non‑clinical professionals.
