Description and requirements
At Skanska, we’re shaping the way we live, work and connect. As one of the world’s largest construction and development companies, we work together with customers, communities and partners to shape a better society.
As part of National Highways’ Lower Thames Crossing, we’re delivering preliminary works for the Kent Roads section — 6 km of new road, Europe’s widest green bridge, a public park and 12 miles of pathways. This landmark project will pioneer low‑carbon construction techniques while creating local jobs, boosting skills and connecting communities across Kent and Essex via the UK’s longest road tunnel.
You will be working in the infrastructure OU where our Infrastructure team brings design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide – combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.
We are currently looking for a Skills, Employment and Education Manager who will support the Social Value Manager and the wider team, to create, coordinate and deliver engaging STEM outreach to young people and wider training opportunities to our priority groups.
As the Skills, Employment and Education Manager, you will:
* Work across the Kent area to develop and maintain relationships with all local schools/colleges, training providers and local job centres to provide support to the project.
* Support the placement settlement of ex‑offenders, ex‑Military and women returners to the project.
* Coordinate engagement activities with providers, deliver a student work‑experience programme, and work with Delivery Partners to run an in‑house STEM Ambassador programme.
* Attend Career fairs and career days at local schools to promote roles and apprenticeships.
* Supporting the Social Value Manager and wider team with the delivery of wider objectives.
We are looking for:
* A passion for delivering meaningful engagement to young people from a variety of backgrounds, using your experience and skills, to promote careers in construction.
* Demonstrable time management and stakeholder relationship skills, enabling prioritisation of multiple activities.
* Clear understanding of the design of school activities and related programs.
* Experience of working with young people.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
What we offer:
* 24/7 digital GP service for you and your family
