RESEARCH + DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER- PLASTICSCMB Recruitment is working with a global client based North Down that is seeking a Research + Development Engineer to join their team and assist with the development of new and existing products. Reporting to the Head of R+D this is an important role in shaping the future direction of the product range. Given the sector in which our client operates we are ideally seeking someone with experience of plastics, polymers or composites.THE ROLEReporting to the Head of R+D the role entails:Carry out performance testing on new and existing products by following standard operating proceduresCarry out all required work to progress and complete research and development projects, both internally and externallyDevelop handover procedures for innovation products going into production, and revise existing standard operating procedures as and when requiredDevelop detailed and accurate bills of materials for newly developed engineering productsWork with the development team on the development of new productsManage projects from concept through to production and identify key gate stagesLiaise with material suppliers regarding correct material selection and desired physical propertiesMaintain detailed records of all work carried out for development, prototyping and testingProactive in developing knowledge surrounding polymer processing and material selectionProvide technical assistance to various departments when requiredAssist with any engineering related tasks requiredCompiling reports for internal and external customersPresenting findings of work to key stakeholders, including local and global teamsAny other appropriate task as requiredTHE PERSONEssentialHold a bachelors degree in engineering or related technical fields i.e. Material Engineering, Chemistry or similar.Minimum of 1 years experience in production development, R&D or a related field (can be during university placement), ideally in plastics, composites or polymers.Proven experience in managing projects from concept through to production and identifying key gate stagesExperience of translating designed concepts into potential productsExperience of collaborating with teams in developing new and revising existing productsKnowledge of communicating with customers to solve issues and provide solutionsKnowledge of developing and/or revising operating proceduresDesirableKnowledge of polymer material and their applicationsKnowledge of polymer processingExperience in working with design and marketing teamsExperience in dealing with material suppliersSALARYThis is a permanent Mon-Fri role with a Friday lunchtime finish, and our client is offering a competitive salary plus company pension, life cover etc. with the exact remuneration amount dependent upon the successful applicants level of relevant experience.TO APPLYPlease click on the link below to send your CV to us and we will contact you.
