We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison. Lewes prison is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away.
Hours
37.5 hours a week working Monday - Sunday 7pm-07.30am. The working pattern is, 3 shifts x 11.5 per week for three weeks and 4 shifts x 11.5 every fourth week.
Salary
You'll receive an annual salary up to £52,259 per annum - depending on experience

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse you will
* Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions.
* You will undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication
* Attend emergency response situations
* Assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
* You will assess patient's health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge.
* You will ensure that you a ssess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made.
* You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment.

Qualifications required
• Registered nurse - Mental Health
• Current professional qualification (NMC)
• Evidence of Continued Professional Development
• Experience of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
• A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
• Understanding of mental health policy including clinical governance and the quality and outcomes framework, along with national standards such as NICE
