The post holder in collaboration with the HoCS, Deputy Director, Clinical Director and leads assist in the setting of goals and objectives for staff within the service in accordance with ELFT’s policies to ensure delivery of excellent clinical care.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective management of human resource, financial resource, governance and business planning arrangements across the service lines.
The post holder will be responsible for the safe and effective delivery of services within their portfolio and ensuring the smooth and safe day to day running of services, maintaining positive staff and patient experience.
Ensuring that business continuity and resilient service delivery, supported by robust operational and capacity planning.
Work in partnership with colleagues across the organisation to ensure the delivery of the Trusts corporate objectives and transformation programmes including Quality Improvement.
Ensure collaboration between services to support quality improvements and collective achievement of performance standards incorporating quality, safety, contractual, access, financial and workforce.
Lead by example and act at all times as an ambassador for the Trust, championing the Trusts values and upholding the highest standards of behavior and compassion for colleagues.
Main duties of the job
To provide visible operational, professional leadership, guidance, support and direction to staff within service areas.
Work in partnership with the Heads of Clinical Service, Clinical Directors, Professional leads in delivering the objectives of the clinical service lines within service areas.
To be a professional role model supporting an inclusive culture of kindness and compassion.
To facilitate and drive change across the clinical service lines in line with the trust change agenda and to do so in conjunction with clinical and managerial colleagues and service improvement managers.

Education/ Qualification/ Training
Essential criteria
1. Postgraduate studies at MSc Level or equivalent experience
2. Registered Nurse currently registered with the NMC
Experience
Essential criteria
3. Significant experience of managing at least one Community Service i.e. specialist Nursing Service Primary care at Home team services Lead/Head of Service, ideally across more than one community discipline and in more than one setting i.e. acute and community /Local authority services
4. Experience of working at a senior level, and in conjunction with external stakeholders e.g. partners in primary care and local commissioners
5. Experience of leading significant project work
6. Experience of Service development and Quality improvement
7. Experience of writing business cases, negotiating service specifications and contracts
8. Experience of budget management and CIP delivery
9. Experience of District Nursing
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
10. Significant clinical knowledge and understanding in own area
11. Ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts and adapt communication style according to audience
12. Ability to write clear and concise reports for discussion at senior level
13. Ability to analyse data and interpret significance of data and apply this to service development across all disciplines
14. Ability to problem solve and implement solutions
15. Ability to navigate difficult situations and find an outcome even when this isn’t obvious
