Senior Commercial Property Claims Handler

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Commercial Property Claims Handler, you'll be responsible for handling the larger and more complex Direct Line for Business and Churchill for Business property claims up to a value of £100,000. The duties also include supporting the Team Leader in managing the team and developing technical capability.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Claims Team Leader, you'll:
1. Triage new large and technical property claims.
2. Manage end-to-end handling of retained technical claims.
3. Spot and escalate potential fraudulent activity.
4. Investigate claims, negotiate indemnity and liability, and identify recovery opportunities.
5. Help shape and improve our overall claims handling strategy.
6. Support technical development through case clinics, audits, and sharing legal/technical updates.
7. Maintain strong control of indemnity spend and accurate reserving.
8. Manage customer and third-party expectations throughout the claim lifecycle.
9. Meet all regulatory timescales and compliance requirements.
10. Act as a technical mentor and referral point for colleagues.
11. Focus on your own development to support our centre-of-excellence standards.
12. Keep customer experience and Consumer Duty principles at the core of your work.
13. Achieve departmental targets and contribute to team performance.
Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.
What you’ll need
14. Strong commercial insurance background.
15. Confident in recognising and investigating potential fraud indicators.
16. Solid understanding of core insurance principles, policy coverage and industry practices.
17. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships.
18. Experience coaching, supporting or mentoring colleagues to develop their capability.
