At South Staffs Water, we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.7 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. As a water-only company, providing clean, healthy water 24/7 is at the core of our mission, and we're looking for a dedicated professional to join us.

The Role:

* The Senior Technician at South Staffs Water provides effective guidance, mentoring, and support to operational production teams to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of clean drinking water. You will handle all technical aspects of work on production assets, troubleshoot issues, and develop tactical plans to overcome both proactive and reactive challenges, supporting our quality, safety, and environmental targets.
* Critical Performance Objectives include:
* Continuous employee engagement, staff retention, and team development.
* Assessing team competency in line with the Competent Operator Scheme manual.
* Achieving maximum rewards in the company's unplanned outage ODI.

Key Responsibilities:

* Mentoring and upskilling operational production staff.
* Ensuring compliance with industry-leading health and safety standards across all sites and staff.
* Developing, implementing, and maintaining procedures, systems, practices, and risk assessments.
* Issuing permits to work to staff and contractors.
* Liaising with external bodies, auditors, review bodies, and regulators as needed.
* Collaborating with the regional chemist to optimize water quality and efficiency.
* Working with the Production Coordinator to evaluate staff competency and identify training needs.
* Supporting project scope development, capital investment proposals, and overseeing technical installations (electrical, mechanical, chemical).
* Responding to site and equipment breakdowns and safely restoring plant operations.
* Participating actively in the 24/7 production standby rota.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Experience and knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and chemical process installations and commissioning.
* Competent Operator Scheme accreditation.
* Proven mentoring experience and ability.

Education and Certifications:

* HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Confined Space Medium Risk certification.
* EUSR SHEA / CSCS Card.
* EUSR National Water Hygiene Card.
* Electrical installation and testing (C&G Level 3).
* Level 3 Controlling Process (NVQ).
* Level 3 Water Treatment Operations.
* Full UK Driving License.
