Overview
Clinical Support Worker Band 4. Salary £27,485 to £30,162 a year (Full-time equivalent). Permanent contract. Preference for full-time; part-time considered. 6-month mentorship/induction package. This role is based at Brownlow Health @ Pembroke Place, 70 Pembroke Place, Liverpool L69 3GF.
About Us
Brownlow Health is a large GP training practice with six sites in Liverpool. We offer a wide range of specialist services and have a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, GPs, pharmacists, care-coordinators and other staff. We are committed to staff wellbeing and flexible working where possible.
Main duties of the job
* Support the Nursing Team in delivering the practice agenda, including management of long-term conditions and general clinical duties
* Provide care to patients following practice protocols and national guidelines and competencies
Job responsibilities
* Undertake new patient registration consultations
* Obtain venous blood samples where deemed appropriate
* Perform, evaluate and interpret non-invasive blood pressure examinations
* Obtain and test urine specimens, report outcomes and inform appropriate staff
* Management of wound care
* Assist the GP with minor surgery
* Administer vaccinations (influenza, shingles and pneumococcal) and B12 injections (dependent on training)
* Health promotion and healthy lifestyle advice
* Support patients to self-care through signposting to other services
* Provision of cryotherapy (dependent on training)
* Support clinical staff in external clinics/services provided by the Practice
* BP and weight monitoring for contraception reviews
* LTC monitoring under the guidance of the PN/NP
* Home visits for LTC reviews and health checks, vaccinations, etc.
* Diabetic physical health checks
* Take responsibility for a lead area
* Undertake H-Pylori testing (after training)
* Stock maintenance: regular ordering, rotation and monitoring; ensure rooms have adequate stock
* Work across other sites as required
Qualifications and experience
* Essential: NVQ 3 or equivalent in a health care setting
* Desirable: Training to Nurse Associate/Assistant Practitioner
* Experience in phlebotomy, urinalysis, full set of observations, LTC reviews; immunisations and vaccinations
* Knowledge of clinical governance, confidentiality, data protection and information governance
* Awareness of safeguarding policies
* Cross-site working and ability to work as part of a team

* Flexible, adaptable and able to work under pressure
* Willingness to undertake training to fulfil the role
* Full driving license with access to car for home visits (desirable)
