Do you want to lead how a major UK manufacturer responds to new carbon trade regulation?
The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is changing how industrial products are traded into Europe. For Tata Steel UK, getting this right is critical to protecting our commercial position and maintaining access to EU markets.
We are looking for a Compliance Manager to coordinate and manage all aspects of our CBAM response.
What you will do
This is a business-critical role. The work you do will directly affect our ability to sell into the EU and prepare for the introduction of UK CBAM in 2027.
You will act as the central point of coordination for CBAM across the business. That means working closely with Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, HS&E and IT to make sure everyone understands what is required and when.
You will:
* Act as the main contact for customers on CBAM-related matters
* Support customers with emissions data queries and submissions
* Manage communication with suppliers regarding UK CBAM requirements
* Oversee the internal CBAM administrative framework and compliance workflows
* Ensure documentation, reporting and audit trails are accurate and complete
* Monitor changes in EU and UK legislation and advise the business on required actions
* Identify compliance risks and ensure mitigation plans are in place
* Support preparations for external verification in 2027
This role is about turning complex regulation into clear, workable processes that protect the business and maintain customer confidence.
What you will need
You will likely have experience in a compliance, regulatory, commercial governance or administrative leadership role.
You will bring:
* Strong coordination and organisational skills
* Confidence working across multiple stakeholder groups
* The ability to interpret regulatory guidance and apply it practically
* Clear communication skills, particularly when explaining complex requirements
* A structured and risk-aware approach
Experience in trade compliance, sustainability regulation, tax, customs or emissions reporting would be beneficial.
