The role
As a Quality Control Inspector – Electrical, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most exciting defence programmes - the Type 31 Frigate. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a project that’s redefining naval capability and supporting national security. You’ll be part of a high-performing team ensuring the quality and integrity of warship systems, helping us deliver excellence to the Royal Navy and beyond.
Day-to-day you’ll be:
1. Inspecting and accepting the installation of ship machinery, equipment, and systems
2. Liaising closely with Lloyds Register and other verification bodies
3. Managing inspection regimes and maintaining completion records within CMS
4. Coordinating inspection schedules and diaries with external stakeholders
5. Supporting quality improvement initiatives across the Type 31 project
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and is based on site at Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Quality Control Inspector – Electrical
6. Strong knowledge of quality control in naval warship construction and acceptance
7. Ability to assess production and subcontractor work for technical compliance
8. Deep understanding of quality control fundamentals
9. Broad knowledge of warship machinery and systems design and installation
10. Excellent communication and report writing skills
Qualifications for the Quality Control Inspector – Electrical
11. Recognised trade qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
12. Relevant academic qualification (HNC or SVQ Level 3)
