As the Warehouse Manager at Walker Filtration, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionising our inventory control, material flow and internal logistics within manufacturing. This role focuses on applying process improvement tools and lean methodologies to optimise warehouse operations, reduce waste and improve efficiency. Ensuring that safe and effective systems and procedures are implemented and followed correctly to maintain full and effective material control. The position requires strong collaboration with operations teams to design efficient workflows and implement best practice for internal logistics and material handling.
Your mission is to optimise our material resources, ensuring seamless operations and cost-effectiveness while keeping waste and stock levels aligned with our strategic objectives.
Contributing to the creation and implementation of best practice warehouse vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
Duties include
1. Coach, manage and develop logistics staff, team leaders and supervisors to optimise performance and ensure they have the skills and abilities to meet targets and deadlines.
2. Manage and co-ordinate Goods-In, Warehousing and material distribution operations
3. Ensure an efficient warehouse operation which can fulfil operational and customer demand
4. Provide a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are always understood and practiced by the team
5. Plan, co-ordinate and monitor the receipt, storage, movement, and dispatch of goods
6. Drive a zero-tolerance mind set for deviation from the use of quality processes to ensure customer deliverables are met fully
7. Understand customer needs and ensure alignment with the needs/commitments of the business
8. Ensure inventories are accurate and control inventory levels by ensuring physical counts are conducted and reconciled with the system utilising help of the warehouse team
9. Development and utilisation of a warehouse management system and/or other relevant technologies or processes to streamline operations and improve accuracy.
10. Resolve any issues related to transportation delays, damage or discrepancies.
11. Ensure efficient and effective use of warehouse space to include layout and future capacity requirements to maximise space utilisation.
12. Develop and maintain metrics/KPIs, reports, process documentation, customer service logs and training and safety records
13. Continuously review ways to aid efficiency, add value and reduce costs as well as delivering continuous improvement initiatives
14. Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies, and processes
Champion a safe working environment and ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are always followed and the company remains compliant in all areas relevant to the area of responsibility

Relevant experience
15. Proven track record of success in warehouse inventory management roles, with demonstrated expertise in optimising material flow and driving continuous improvement.
16. Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of end-to-end material flow in operations.
17. Proven experience in leading and managing teams in a matrix working environment.
Education and Training
18. Bachelor's degree in Logistics Engineering / Management or evidenced experience
19. IOSH qualification preferable
20. Relevant professional certifications / accreditations (e.g. CPIM, CIPS, IOSCM, CILT) are a plus.
21. Skilled in SAP for managing inventory, logistics and supply chain operations would be advantageous
22. Lean Six Sigma – Green belt or more advanced.

30. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organisation, and externally.
31. High standard of oral and written communication, with a drive to improve existing levels of communication and providing direction within the business.
32. Excellent planning and organising skills. The ability to prioritise and multi-task based on the priorities set by the business.
33. Be able to demonstrate a proactive and flexible attitude to work, adopting a “hands on” approach as and when appropriate.
