We’re supporting a well-established, global organisation to recruit a Health & Safety Assistant for their large integrated site in Leicester. With sustainability, continuous improvement and people development at the heart of their culture, this business is known for producing household-name products found in supermarkets nationwide.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving safety initiatives, supporting colleagues across two local sites, and contributing to a positive, proactive safety culture. No two days are the same in this fast-paced environment, and this role is fully site-based due to the nature of the operation.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Supporting the development and implementation of best practice H&S policies, procedures and regulatory compliance.
* Ensuring staff receive appropriate H&S training to carry out their roles safely and effectively.
* Producing reports, data and insights for the H&S Manager.
* Collaborating with teams across the site to deliver proactive safety initiatives.
* Liaising with internal stakeholders and external bodies on H&S matters.
* Taking part in weekly production meetings to align on site priorities and targets.
* Reviewing, adapting and implementing risk assessments across the operation.
* Assessing machinery compliance and recommending improvements where required.
* Identifying gaps in training and SSOW, ensuring corrective action is taken.
* Delivering safety-related training sessions.
* Providing hands‑on support during internal and external audits.
What You’ll Need
* NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
* Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and experience with ISO 45001
* Experience supporting internal and external audits
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and problem‑solve
* Confident using IT systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office
* Previous experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally with exposure to both administrative and operational environments
