SEMH Teaching Assistant – SELBY Full-time or part-time | Term-time only | Long-term & flexible roles available Right Education are working with a large primary school close to Selby, who have asked us to prepare a team of Teaching Assistants to help support the behavioural needs of their pupils. The pupils may have a diagnosis such as Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), ADHD—or may simply need support managing their behaviour and feeling safe and secure in the school environment. There are a lot of evolving needs within the school, so flexibility is key—but so is finding the right fit for you. Whether you’re looking for a long-term opportunity with the potential for a permanent contract, or something more flexible that works around other commitments, we’d love to chat. The role: • Supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs to help them feel safe, supported, and ready to learn • Working 1:1 or in small groups to provide structure, consistency, and encouragement • Collaborating with staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to keep things positive and on track • Being a calm, reliable presence who helps children regulate and thrive throughout the day You’ll need: • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (SEMH, SEN, behaviour, care or youth work backgrounds are all welcome) • Patience, resilience, and a calm approach to challenging situations • A real passion for helping pupils overcome barriers and reach their potential • A DBS on the Update Service—or willingness to apply for one Formal training in children’s behaviour support—such as Team Teach, PBS, PRICE, etc. is highly desirable and your qualification status will be reflected in your pay.
