We are committed to social impact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, expanding our research and knowledge exchange activities to deliver real-world change locally and globally.
This is an exciting time to join us. You’ll be part of a university investing in its people, infrastructure, and partnerships to grow its research profile and deepen engagement with industry, communities, and policymakers. If you’re passionate about making a difference, GCU offers the platform and support to help you thrive.
You’ll join Research and Knowledge Exchange Services (RKES), a newly established directorate that brings together expertise from research operations, researcher development, and knowledge exchange. This team supports GCU’s research and innovation agenda, fostering academic excellence and real-world impact.
As Senior Research Excellence Manager, you’ll shape how GCU demonstrates research quality and impact. You’ll coordinate external research reporting and review activities, including preparations for REF 2029. Working with academic leaders and professional services, you’ll ensure systems, processes, and insights support a high-performing research environment. From managing peer review processes to driving improvement initiatives, you’ll influence research culture and performance at the institutional level.
We seek someone with expertise and enthusiasm for advancing research excellence at GCU. You’ll have experience coordinating submissions to national research assessments and a strong understanding of the research and knowledge exchange landscape. You thrive in complex environments, balancing attention to detail with strategic thinking, and can navigate competing priorities professionally. With excellent communication skills, you’ll work across teams, influence at all levels, and build strong relationships. If you’re passionate about continuous improvement, policy development, and fostering a culture of research excellence, this role offers a meaningful opportunity.
Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria in your application. For an informal chat or more information, contact Dr Alison McIntosh, Director of RKES, at alison.mcintosh@gcu.ac.uk
