Planning Apprentice

Fixed Term Contract for up to 4 years

37 hours per week

Point 1 - £15,194 a year – initial salary for all new starters for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship.

Progression of pay after 12 months are complete as follows:

Point 2 - £20,136 a year - completed 12 months and aged 18 – 20

Point 3 - £24,577 a year - completed 12 months and aged 21+

Are you looking to start or develop your career in town planning within a progressive planning service covering an area boasting extensive countryside along with historic market towns and villages?

The Development Management team at Warwick District Council are offering an exciting degree level apprenticeship opportunity for an individual who is eager to learn and develop their skills while making a positive impact within Warwick District.

Key responsibilities:

As a Planning Assistant you will handle a caseload of householder and other minor planning applications; deal with related appeals and engage with applicants and other interested parties on a day to day basis.

As part of this role, you will undertake a level 7 Chartered Town Planner Degree Apprenticeship. You will be enrolled onto the apprenticeship shortly after you join, and it will typically take 4 years to complete. You will complete training for 20% of your time, including from an apprenticeship training provider. More information on the apprenticeship and course entry requirements can be found here: .

Accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), this Level 7 Degree Apprenticeship will enable you to advance into a professional planning role.

You will have guidance and support whilst working within a team that places a high value on teamwork, customer focus, professionalism, responsibility, and creativity. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team, in all cases will have the support of your team leader and a mentor.

You will also need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to undertake duties across the entire district.

Apprenticeships are funded by the UK Government and there are some rules which we need to consider to establish eligibility for this opportunity. In particular:

1. You will have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship or fit the criteria of eligible residency status in the .
2. You do not already hold the same or similar qualifications.

The intention is for the postholder to work predominately from home however, it is a requirement to attend our offices or sites within Warwick District as required. Any costs for travel from home to the office will be met by the successful candidate. However, office and hybrid working are also available.
