Consultant Psychiatrist, CYPS, Chertsey (attracts £25K RRP) – role at HwC Ventures.
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work in our well-established Surrey Heath Children and Young People’s Service team, based at Unither House, Chertsey, covering the NW patch of Surrey. You will join two other consultants, 2 SAS doctors and Trainees in a multidisciplinary team setting. Flexible total PA hours and part-time applications considered.
This job attracts a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000 in addition to £8,000 relocation allowance plus other benefits. The R&R payment is pro rata for part-time employees. We provide various community services, integrated health and social care, early intervention, detection programmes, and highly specialised therapy and treatment. Our high-quality care focuses on enabling people to live well with their conditions and to work towards recovery.
There is flexibility on the total amount of PA's and part-time applicants will be considered.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing a diagnostic, assessment and treatment service for children and adolescents with mental health problems within a multi-disciplinary approach to care, promoting high-quality multidisciplinary working and relationships. On average, a full-time consultant would complete 2-3 monthly assessments and hold a caseload of approximately 60. Patients have a consultant review after 6 weeks of treatment in the team and then every 2-3 months. You will participate in an emergency out-of-hours rota, providing back-up for junior doctors and professionals in assessing young people seen in A&E.
Requirements
Essential
* MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
* Full medical registration with a license to practice
* Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act (or within 6 to 12 months of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable
* Relevant higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD, MSc) or other additional clinical qualifications
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills
Eligibility
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
* Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of legislation, Department of Health Guidance and literature and its implications for clinical practice
* Knowledge of NHS strategic vision in the Next Stage Review
* Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
* Experience working with a range of patient groups across community, inpatient, and specialist settings
Desirable
* Specific training qualification/certificate or attendance on a recognised teaching course
