Quantity Surveyor – Rail / Civils
Barrow-in-Furness (Office-Based)
12-Month Contract (Likely Extension)
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our client, supporting the commercial delivery of rail infrastructure projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work across construction and civil engineering projects, taking full responsibility for commercial management from tender stage through to final account.
⚠️ Please note: This is an office-based role in Barrow-in-Furness and is not suitable for remote working.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage projects commercially from tender through to final account
* Prepare and price tender estimates (small and large projects)
* Maintain and manage costing systems and reporting
* Liaise and negotiate with clients on variations and contractual matters
* Conduct site visits to measure works and assess new tenders
* Review project documentation, identifying risks and requirements
* Prepare monthly payment applications and resolve discrepancies
* Work closely with internal teams and client-side QS professionals
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, civils, or infrastructure
* Experience working on rail projects (e.g. Network Rail environments)
* Strong background in estimating, tendering, and programme management
* Solid knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
* Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and commercial priorities
