The role
As a Commercial Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll gain exceptional experience and development opportunities in a dynamic environment, shaping the future of defence and engineering.
Day-to-day, you’ll be the commercial leader for key areas of Devonport Site Delivery, managing contractual relationships with the Ministry of Defence and ensuring robust commercial governance. This is a fast-paced, varied role where you’ll act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and driving commercial excellence on projects critical to national security.
1. Leading commercial and contractual relationships with the Ministry of Defence.
2. Representing the business in negotiations and ensuring compliance with governance processes.
3. Providing expert advice on contract interpretation, negotiation, and risk mitigation.
4. Managing and developing a commercial team to deliver strategic objectives.
5. Identifying and mitigating business risks while spotting opportunities for growth.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Commercial Manager
6. Proven experience working with the Ministry of Defence and managing customer relationships.
7. Strong knowledge of single source contracting and commercial frameworks.
8. Ability to operate effectively in complex, dynamic environments.
9. Track record of delivering robust commercial management on large, complex contracts.
Qualifications for the Commercial Manager
10. Degree in Business, Law, or equivalent professional experience.
