We are looking for Band 5 Occupational Therapists to join Newton Lodge, Fieldhead Hospital, Wakefield. The OT service operates within a forensic, medium-secure setting and is part of the NHS Foundation Trust. This role provides opportunities to develop clinical and professional competencies within a supportive environment.

Position: Band 5 Occupational Therapist Location: Newton Lodge, Fieldhead Hospital, Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 3SP Salary: £31,049 to £37,796 per year Contract: Permanent Working pattern: Full-time, flexible working
Responsibilities
* Provide occupational therapy assessments and treatment for service users in inpatient care across 7 medium-secure wards.
* Develop and implement individual and group treatment programmes using graded activities to achieve therapeutic goals.
* Monitor progress, evaluate outcomes, and modify interventions as needed; contribute to discharge planning and follow‑up.
* Promote a client-centred approach, collaborate with service users and carers where appropriate, and work with the MDT to meet needs.
* Prepare timely OT reports for Consultants, GPs and other agencies; contribute to MDT discussions, ward rounds, clinics and case conferences.
* Maintain up-to-date records and activity data in line with Trust policies and RCOT / DoH standards.
* Work flexibly, including weekends and evenings as required; actively participate in service development and promotion of OT within the service.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential: COT Diploma or BSc Occupational Therapy Degree OR Pre-registration MSc Occupational Therapy; HCPC registration.
* Essential: Current UK professional registration; documented CPD; ability to travel around the Trust as appropriate.
* Desirable: Training in OT-specific assessment (e.g., MOHO).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Application of the OT process within a clinical setting; knowledge of current best practice.
* Ability to plan and coordinate treatment packages; manage own workload and priorities.
* Good communication skills; ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team; understanding of health legislation and risk management.
* Commitment to client-centred, non-discriminatory practice and multi-disciplinary collaboration.
