Behaviour Support Practitioner – SEMH Specialist Provision

Teaching Personnel are recruiting for a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Support Practitioner to work within a specialist behaviour unit supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs.
About the Role
This is a highly rewarding but challenging position where no two days are the same.
You will be supporting pupils who:
* Experience significant emotional and behavioural barriers to learning
* May display behaviours outside of mainstream expectations
* Can become dysregulated and require calm, structured support
Your responsibilities will include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support
* Supporting pupils to de-escalate and re-regulate emotions
* Removing pupils from triggering situations when needed
* Building trusting, consistent relationships
* Promoting a safe, structured learning environment
The Setting
This is not a typical classroom environment.
You’ll be working in a specialist provision with:
* Smaller class sizes ?
* High staff-to-pupil ratios
* A strong focus on routine, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour support
You must be prepared for:
* Challenging behaviours on a daily basis
* Situations requiring patience, resilience, and emotional awareness
* Supporting pupils through moments of distress
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Trauma-informed in their approach
* Experienced with ALN and/or SEMH needs
* Calm, resilient, and adaptable
* Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
Relevant backgrounds include:
* Behaviour support / PRU
* Youth work
* Care or residential settings
* Mental health support roles

Requirements
* Experience working with children or young people
* Two recent references
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
* EWC registration (or willingness to apply)
* Right to work in the UK
