Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to oversee and execute Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance activities on a major water utility project. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of mechanical systems related to water treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, and associated infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM):
*
Develop, schedule, and implement PPM routines for mechanical equipment including pumps, valves, motors, compressors, and pipelines.
*
Ensure maintenance procedures comply with OEM specifications and industry best practices.
*
Maintain accurate maintenance records and asset registers using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
*
Coordinate with operations to minimize system downtime during maintenance.
*
Conduct risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for maintenance tasks.
2. Reactive Maintenance:
*
Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns, faults, and emergency repair needs.
*
Diagnose mechanical failures and determine the most effective solution.
*
Carry out on-site repairs or coordinate third-party repairs as necessary.
*
Provide root cause analysis of repeated failures and propose engineering solutions to prevent recurrence.
3. Technical & Compliance:
*
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
*
Work closely with electrical and instrumentation teams for integrated maintenance tasks.
*
Maintain documentation of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and technical reports.
*
Support audits, inspections, and compliance checks related to water utility standards.
4. Project Support:
*
Participate in the commissioning of new mechanical installations and retrofits.
*
Liaise with OEMs and vendors for technical support and spare parts.
*
Assist in planning capital improvement projects involving mechanical systems.
Experience:
*
3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in the water treatment or utilities sector.
*
Strong background in both PPM and reactive maintenance on industrial mechanical systems.
Skills:
*
Hands-on experience with pumps, motors, valves, actuators, and hydraulic systems.
*
Familiarity with CMMS software (e.g., Maximo, SAP, or similar).
*
Good knowledge of HSE regulations and safe maintenance practices.
*
Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
*
Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
Certifications (Preferred):
*
HSE certifications (e.g., IOSH/NEBOSH).
*
Confined space training.
*
LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) training.
Working Conditions:
*
Site-based role with occasional office work.
*
May involve shift work, weekend work, or on-call duty.
