Job Title: Technical Business Analyst Location: Glasgow Salary/Rate: £267.50 Start Date: 26/05/25 Job Type: 6 Month Initial Contract Inside IR35 Company Introduction We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Technical Business Analyst to become a subject matter expert in the core system functionality, data model and key business processes. Job Responsibilities/Objectives You will be responsible for acting as functional SME and interface between the business/project teams and the development team, providing analysis expertise to understand how requirements translate to technical change and being responsible for delivering all analysis artefacts and supporting testing. - Work with Project Managers to agree the work breakdown structure and documentation needs for analysis work packages. - Estimate effort for Analysis deliverables and work to meet the agreed timelines. - Read and comprehend detailed business requirements; validate that these requirements are specific, defined and achievable. - Produce functional specifications that describe the required solution. These documents should be clear, comprehensive and easy for the development team to use when designing the technical solution. - Produce and maintain high quality Analysis artefacts throughout the project lifecycle - Support the Development team to translate functional specifications into technical specifications and implementation. - Utilize data analysis skills to verify that inbound data meets expectations, investigate defects and any data gaps are addressed appropriately. - Based on the projects data requirements, determine appropriate enhancements to the data model; apply relevant data modelling techniques and follow the governance process for approval for data model updates. - Work collaboratively within the BA team to ensure on-time and quality deliverables, engage in issue resolution with team members, and act as quality assurance on artefacts if required. - Define the functional and regression test approaches and environment configuration - Manage the creation of a test plan and test cases by the Test team for deliveries - Review test observations from the Test team and manage the closure of issues for deliveries - Support completion of functional and regression testing if required - Report RAIDs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies) and regular status updates on analysis deliveries including status against milestones and propose mitigating actions where possible. - Work to achieve excellent business understanding including knowledge on products and data received into the system, and understanding of how the platform is used to support regulatory reporting processes. Required Skills/Experience The ideal candidate will have the following: - Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst, ideally within regulated industries (e.g., finance, insurance, or utilities). - Ability to bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. - Strong skills in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting detailed business and functional requirements. Experience producing high-quality analysis artefacts such as functional specifications, process flows, and data models. - Understanding of complex system functionality and data modelling principles. - Experience validating inbound data, performing gap analysis, and enhancing data models. - Experience supporting and coordinating system, functional, and regression testing. - Familiarity with creating and managing test plans and test cases. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management Ability to work with cross-functional teams including project managers, developers, testers, and business users. Skilled in managing stakeholder expectations and reporting status and risks. - Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, SQL, and Excel. Experience working in Agile or hybrid project delivery environments. Desirable Skills/Experience Although not essential, the following skills are desired by the client: - Experience in regulatory reporting or data-intensive systems. - Formal qualifications such as: BCS Business Analysis Certification IIBA Certification (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) Agile certifications (Scrum, SAFe, etc.) - Familiarity with Enterprise Data Warehouses or reporting platforms.
