We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join our Theatre/Endoscopy team at the Lorn and Islands Hospital Oban. The department cares for elective and emergency surgical and endoscopy patients.
The Theatre/Endoscopy department is operational Monday to Friday for people attending for both general surgery and endoscopy procedures. In addition, there is an out of hours on call service for emergencies.
The successful applicant will work 2 days per week in all areas – Peri‑operative, Anaesthetics, Reception, Recovery and Endoscopy – and be part of the on‑call team.
Responsibilities
* Work 2 days per week across all areas of the Theatre/Endoscopy department.
* Provide safe and effective care to patients with varying levels of complexity.
* Support the team during general surgery and endoscopy procedures.
* Be part of the on‑call team for out‑of‑hours emergencies.
Qualifications
* Previous healthcare experience is essential.
* Ability to work well under pressure and flexibly to meet the needs of a 24/7 service.
* Effective teamwork and excellent communication skills.
* Proficiency with IT systems.
Additional Information
* Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis, and an increase in the hourly rate will ensure that pay remains unaffected.

* This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS).
