Finance Manager (SME) - £45,000 per annum - 3-month contract - Henley on Thames
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to oversee the financial operations of a growing SME. This is a broad role requiring both strategic input and day-to-day financial management. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business decision-making, improving financial processes, and ensuring strong financial control.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
1. Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
2. Provide variance analysis and insightful commentary to senior management
3. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards
4. Oversee year-end accounts and liaise with external accountants/auditors
Budgeting & Forecasting
5. Lead the annual budgeting process
6. Develop rolling forecasts and cash flow projections
7. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts
Cash Flow & Working Capital
8. Manage cash flow to ensure business liquidity
9. Optimise working capital, including debtors, creditors, and inventory
10. Oversee banking relationships and funding arrangements
Operational Finance
11. Supervise day-to-day finance operations (AP, AR, payroll if applicable)
12. Improve systems, controls, and financial processes
13. Support commercial decision-making with financial analysis
Compliance & Controls
14. Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax)
15. Maintain robust internal controls and financial governance
16. Support any regulatory or statutory reporting requirements
Stakeholder Management
17. Partner with department heads to manage budgets and performance
18. Present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
19. Act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team
