The Opportunity
Avantor is looking for a dedicated and proactive Senior Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory-based team in Macclesfield, UK. In this role, you will take ownership of a wide range of laboratory support activities across two buildings on the same campus, including equipment maintenance, laboratory housekeeping, and supply management.
This is a full-time, permanent position based at our customer's site in Macclesfield. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a bonus scheme, pension plan, private medical and dental care, and even an extra day off on your birthday.

The Team
You'll be a part of a wider group of six associates-three in your direct team and three in a partnering team located in the same building on campus. Both teams work closely together and often share breaks and lunches. The team is committed to delivering high-quality operational support to the on-site laboratories.
You'll be part of our Lab and Production Services department, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide, advancing research and development in the Life Sciences industry.
What We're Looking For
* Education: A degree in a scientific subject is advantageous but not essential
* Experience:
o 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience, including equipment maintenance (e.g., pipettes, balances, pH meters)
o Familiarity with LIMS or other laboratory software
o Knowledge of GMP standards is a plus
o Customer-facing experience is highly desirable, including roles in hospitality, retail, or warehouse settings
o Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and laboratory systems
o A self-motivated individual with the ability to think on their feet, excellent communication skills, a quality-driven mindset, and high attention to detail
How You'll Thrive And Create An Impact
* Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and compliance
* Use equipment software to maintain traceability of calibration data
* Manage laboratory supplies using computer systems, ensuring proper documentation and regulatory adherence
* Write, review, and update work instructions, risk assessments, and SOPs
* Support the Laboratory Manager with day-to-day responsibilities, including health and safety walks, being a Point of Contact for customer and audits
