About the Role
We are seeking two reliable and hardworking Gardeners to join the Horticulture Team within Facilities Management and Building Services. This is a temporary Band 4 role based at West Cemetery, supporting the upkeep and maintenance of landscaped and cemetery grounds in Darlington.
The successful candidates will play an important role in ensuring outdoor areas are well maintained, safe, and presented to a high standard for members of the public and service users.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out general grounds maintenance including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, and pruning
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of cemetery and landscaped areas
Support planting schemes and seasonal horticultural work
Operate and maintain gardening tools and machinery safely
Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety procedures
Assist with waste removal and general site tidiness
Report any hazards, damage, or maintenance issues promptly
Work effectively as part of a team and support wider service delivery What We Are Looking For
Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Basic knowledge of health and safety practices in a grounds maintenance environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and physically fit for manual work
