Role Description – Mental Health Support Worker
This position is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1. Due to the nature of the role and the needs of the people we support, we can only accept applications from females for this position.
Gray Healthcare is recruiting a team of mental health support workers within the Fulwood area of Preston to support a lady in her 40s with diagnoses of Paranoid Schizophrenia, EUPD, and Learning Disabilities. She lives independently in her own home and receives 2:1 support 24 hours a day. The individual is looking for support from someone with a good sense of humor, an interest in cooking, bingo, swimming, and outdoor walks. Support will be provided by a mixed-gender team on shifts covering days and waking nights. We are recruiting drivers only for this role, as the individual has access to a mobility vehicle for community access.
Mental Health Support Worker Required Skills and Experience
* Full UK Driving License – Essential.
* Social care experience, preferably within mental health, with some experience supporting individuals with Schizophrenia.
* Experience encouraging individuals with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities.
* Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviors.
* Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments.
* Current Right to Work in the UK and employment in the UK for at least 6 months. Note: We no longer offer sponsorship.
* This role requires an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
Hours
36-hour contracts with three 12-hour waking night shifts per week.
Induction and Training
Initial training includes online modules (company induction, systems, medication), followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK, a PBS approach to least restrictive practice, as an alternative to restraint. Additional person-centered training specific to the individual supported will be provided. Ongoing training and career development are encouraged.
