We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19 and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need. We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities. We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: Nursery WorkersTeaching AssistantsLeadership/Management; and Customer Care. We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council's Job Shop. What is the job role?Job Role: Full time, permanent Family Learning Facilitator post The role is to support the of delivery of Family Learning programmes across Coventry as part of the Skills, Employment & Adult Education Service.As a Family Learning Facilitator, you will:Work alongside Family Learning tutors and the Delivery Manager to deliver engaging sessions for parents, carers, and children.Support programmes that strengthen family relationships and help parents support their children's learning and development.Assist with planning sessions, preparing resources, and supporting learners during activities.Deliver a range of provision, including:Parenting and relational programmesStay-and-play sessionsBaby massageCurriculum-based sessions to support understanding of primary educationEmerging programmes such as early communication, art-based learning, and outdoor learningWork in community venues and in partnership with local organisations.Help engage disadvantaged families and increase participation from male carers.Support both one-off workshops and longer programmes (e.g. 10-week courses).Overall, the role suits someone enthusiastic, supportive, and passionate about community education and family support, who enjoys helping families build skills, confidence, and positive relationships.This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).Who are we looking for?We are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and committed team player with experience in educational or community settings to help deliver engaging Family Learning activities. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the barriers adults may face in education and a genuine commitment to supporting learners to overcome these challenges.You will have experience working with children and/or families and either possess, or be willing to develop, an understanding of the Early Years or Primary curriculum. A commitment to learning through play is essential. You should be confident in facilitating learning sessions, preparing appropriate resources, and supporting individual learner needs to enable progress.Strong communication and organisational skills are required, along with a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development. You must be committed to promoting equality, diversity, and safeguarding in all aspects of your work.
