Applications are invited for the post of Acting Deputy Medical Director. This will be a full-time (10 sessions) post for six months. A job share arrangement will be considered.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with experience of working as a senior clinical leader within the heath board, within both clinical and corporate settings, to support our operational and clinical teams to achieve the health board’s vision to become a clinical led high quality and performing organisation.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Executive Medical Director, this is an exciting opportunity for established senior clinical leaders to gain significant corporate experience in working across the health board to ensure the provision of services within an integrated governance framework that is safe, effective and maintains the standards against local, national and statutory requirements and policies. The post holder will hold the role of Deputy Responsible Officer to provide professional leadership to all medical staff on standards of practice, performance and associated professional matters through the promotion and development of the highest standards of quality and patient safety, team working, and a culture in which clinical excellence will flourish. They will also take the lead on the recovery and sustainability and value-based healthcare on behalf of the EMD.

Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.
