Job Description
New Directions Education is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to work in a specialist primary school in Liverpool that supports pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). About the School:
1. A specialist PMLD primary school in Liverpool supporting pupils aged 3–11 with a range of severe physical, sensory, medical, and cognitive needs.
2. Known for its inclusive, nurturing approach and personalised learning pathways.
3. Facilities include sensory rooms, hydrotherapy pools, specialist equipment, and dedicated therapy spaces.
The Role:
4. Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with complex needs.
5. Assist with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, where required.
6. Support sensory-based learning and communication using PECS, Makaton, and other specialist strategies.
The Ideal Candidate:
7. Patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children with PMLD.
8. Experience in an SEN, care, or medical setting is welcomed but not essential.
9. We strongly encourage applications from individuals with backgrounds in care, the NHS, social work, sports coaching, or other sectors with transferable skills.
10. Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service, if not already done.
11. Must have employment references within the last 5 years
