Building a sustainable tomorrow. We are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Cardiff Central Station. The initial role will involve managing an Assistant Quantity Surveyor through the production of cost information and procurement – including survey works, temporary works design, piling and precast design – during the design stage. You will update the risk and opportunity register and provide ongoing budget/pricing information to the client monthly, prior to Notice to Proceed and beyond. The focus will be on costs, risk, supply chain and change management for specified sections of works.
Responsibilities
 * Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with company policy.
 * Communicate effectively with the project team.
 * Manage, supervise and mentor direct reports.
 * Provide commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre‑contract meetings, contract vetting, and input to subcontract documents.
 * Commercially manage subcontractors, including processing payments, obtaining final account agreements and resolving disputed issues by negotiation where appropriate.
 * Ensure timely production of reliable cost performance data.
 * Assist in producing monthly and quarterly reports.
 * Manage change, ensuring adherence to contractual timescales and notices.
 * Adhere to the Risk and Opportunity management protocol and advise the management team accordingly.
 * Prepare and submit timely payment applications in accordance with contract conditions.
 * Attend and provide input to all site commercial meetings and offer commercial advice to the site team.
 * Manage own time and workloads as well as those of the commercial team in a structured manner.
What you bring to the role
Required
 * Successful experience at Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor level with effective core commercial skills.
 * Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project team, client, project managers and designers.
 * Confidence and ability to work within a team environment and positively influence outcomes.
 * Willingness to help and assist colleagues in their development.
 * Competence in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Desirable
 * Early Contractor Involvement experience.
 * Experience with NEC3 and NEC4 contract forms.
 * Experience of target cost contracts.
 * Previous MEICA experience.
 * Working towards CICES membership or equivalent.
