Job overview
Working Part time: 35 hours per week
To support the Equipment Library and Decontamination Unit Manager in the provision of a high quality, efficient and cost-effective service to wards and departments, by supplying appropriately decontaminated equipment to support clinical practice. Undertake some clinical and domestic duties to ensure a safe environment.

Main duties of the job
1. Collect used equipment from clinical areas
2. Disassemble, clean and decontaminate equipment in accordance with Equipment Service protocols and the Trust’s Infection Control Policy. This may involve coming into contact with body fluids.
3. Reassemble, bag and label decontaminated equipment in accordance with Equipment Service protocols.
4. Ensure that electrical equipment is maintained in a fully charged condition, ready for use.
5. Inform the Equipment Library and Decontamination Unit Manager of all equipment faults or damage.
6. Report faulty equipment to the EBME department for repair ensuring it is decontaminated first
7. Ensure prompt delivery of decontaminated equipment to clinical areas throughout the Trust.
8. Assist clinical staff in the selection of appropriate pressure-redistributing equipment in accordance with the guidance provided by the Clinical Nurse Specialist, Tissue Viability.
9. Maintain the general orderliness of the Equipment Library and Decontamination Unit, ensuring that equipment is stored in a safe, hygienic and tidy manner in accordance with the Trust’s policies on Infection Control and Health and Safety.
10. Maintain the cleanliness of all equipment used in the decontamination process e.g. washer/extractors and tumble dryer, including cleaning the filter as necessary.
11.Replenish washer/extractor detergent and sanitiser solutions as necessary.
