The School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies (SPAIS) is seeking to appoint an experienced and committed teacher to the post of Lecturer in Sociology (1.0 FTE, 1-year fixed term).
They will support the delivery of our Sociology programmes and student experience.
We are seeking applicants with the ability to teach in the following areas: Social Theory, Philosophy and Research Design in the Social Sciences, and introductory units in Sociology.
The role involves contributing to teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate Sociology programmes. Responsibilities include supervising undergraduate dissertations, undertaking personal tutoring, performing teaching-related administrative roles, and contributing to SPAIS events and student experience initiatives.
You should apply if you have:
* A PhD in Sociology (or related field).
* Experience teaching Sociology to both small and large groups at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* The ability to teach Social Theory, Philosophy, and Research Design in the Social Sciences, as well as introductory units in Sociology.
* Experience supervising undergraduate dissertations.
* The ability to provide engaging, research-led teaching using contemporary pedagogical methods.
* Experience developing teaching materials, including online resources.
* Experience providing academic and pastoral support to students.
