Overview
Primarily Birmingham based, with regional travel requirements. 37.5 hours, typically working Monday to Friday, occasional weekend work and flexibility required to meet operational needs. Negotiable salary, dependent upon experience. We’re looking for a proactive Transport Manager Designate to lead a safe, compliant, and high‑performing transport operations across our network. This is a pivotal leadership role, requiring a confident and experienced transport professional who can provide direction, drive performance, and ensure operational excellence across a complex and fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide operational leadership and hands‑on support across the national network to ensure consistent service delivery, compliance, and performance standards.
* Lead and deliver Lean and Kaizen continuous improvement projects that drive measurable efficiencies, cost savings, and service enhancements.
* Develop and implement strategic and tactical transport plans that align operational performance with long‑term business objectives.
* Embed a high‑performance culture by setting clear standards and delivering training and development initiatives that build capability and ensure compliance.
* Drive sustainability initiatives within transport operations, reducing environmental impact while supporting wider organisational goals.
What makes you tick
* CPC Qualification in Transport Management.
* Proven experience managing delivery drivers and a commercial vehicle fleet.
* Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety, transport compliance, and GDP standards.
* Confident people manager with experience in absence, discipline, and performance management.
* Highly organised with strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
* Results‑focused, dependable, and calm under pressure, with a hands‑on leadership style.
