Job Summary:
The Trainee Café Manager will be trained up to oversee the daily operations of our café and will play a key role in maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, driving sales, and managing a team to cover all FOH and BOH tasks. This role would be ideal for someone seeking to take their first steps in hospitality management and applicants who are ambitious for a strong future in hospitality are particularly welcomed.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational/General Management
· Oversee the day-to-day running of the café, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
· Creation and management of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
· Creation and management of cleaning schedules and hygiene standards management to ensure the team meets high standards of cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulation (including allergens)
· Monitor inventory levels (food, drink and disposables) and order supplies as needed
· Manage and minimise wastage, including running any food donation/end of life sales systems
· Lead on coffee expertise and standards across the team
· Ensure equipment is well-maintained and liaise with the building maintenance team to coordinate repairs when necessary
· Monitor, manage and improve on excellent levels of customer satisfaction, including management of any customer complaints in a prompt and appropriate fashion.
Staff Supervision and Management
· Hire, train and manage café staff, ensuring all staff reach required standards
· Ensure all staff have appropriate training and supervision to carry out their duties
· Prepare monthly rota to cover opening hours and planned events, ensure contingency plans are in place
· Log and manage staff hours, to meet budget and cover requirements, prepare data for payroll
· Foster a positive team culture and lead by example
· Monitor staff performance and provide feedback and coaching.
Menu Management
· Prepare, cost and manage an efficient menu that delivers strong sales
· Seek input from customers for menu improvements, respond to valid suggestions
· Explore improvements to the café bought-in stock range to maximise sales and profitability.
Commercial Management
· Monitor and analyse sales reports, including pattern of days and product sales, report to Business Owner
· Work with the Business Owner to develop and implement a sales growth strategy, to be reviewed quarterly
· Manage social media accounts, including tracking engagement, reach and impact
· Prepare and implement other marketing activities as required by the business (eg: promotional initiatives, seasonal menus, special events).

Pay: £12.60-£13.20 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
